I listened dully to my tutor’s constant rambling. Who cared about my past, and my future relatives? Yeah, that’s right, my future relatives. They have already planned out how many children I shall have, what there names will be, there genders, and who I will wed. So right there you have my four children, and my husband crossed of my list of futures worries.

I did not have to worry about future problems, as they were already sorted out. I don’t know how, or why, but my entire life plan was already sorted out. Nothing came as a surprise; I even knew the day my first child was to be born.

Now, you must be thinking, “What if something goes wrong”? Everyone goes into a huge panic, and a solution is quickly thought of before anything else can go wrong. Now, it may seem crazy, but it is a tradition. Now, what family as such a sick tradition? Well, my family does. The Royal Family of France.

Anyways, I should introduce myself. My name is Genevieve Grey. I am next in line for the crown, and I am honestly not excited about it. I mean, would you be if you knew whom you are going to marry?

“Genevieve, are you paying any attention?” screeched my tutor Mr. Ford.

“Yes Mr. Ford” I nod numbly, my blond hair falling in front of my face shielding my guilt.

Mr. Ford was an aging man; he had almost no hair left on his head. He had cold grey eyes that used to scare me when I was just a toddler. He wore round glasses that enlarged his eyes greatly.

“Then please enlighten me on the name of Queen Jacqueline II lost granddaughter” He said, a grin splitting across his tight lips.

“She was suppose to be a princess, but instead ran away to marry a peasant boy. Her name was Mariana”.

The only reason I knew this was because Mariana was my grandmothers’ twin sister. My grandmother had been heartbroken for many years, never really healing from the disappearance of her sister. Now, if there twins it would be east to locate her, right? Not. They were paternal twins.

“Nice try Genevieve. But we were talking about your great, great, great grandmother Renee and her fight for the right for woman to be treated with equal respect. She lost, as you know”.

I tried to hide the shame twinkling in my eyes as I let my hair fall even more into my eyes.

“Ms. Grey, you know how impolite it is to cover your face with your hair” Mr. Ford said sternly, enjoying every moment he was allowed to point out my flaws and mistakes.

I managed to make it through the rest of his lesson without letting my mind wander off.

“Princess” a servant girl named Lucille said appearing at my door. “Your mother has sent for you. She has asked that you meet her in the guests chambers.”

“Thank you Lucille. Will I see you later on in our free time?” I asked looking up from my book. Lucille is probably my closest friend. We are not best friends due to our very different life styles, but we talk a lot, sneak down to the kitchen for cookies and ice cream every night for midnight snacks, and she knows all of my hiding spots.

“I’m afraid not Genevieve. My Maw needs me home tonight to take care of my younger brothers. My Pa is working late tonight at the mine, so I need to cook for them. My Maw is due in one week. I don’t know how we will be able to afford another baby…” Lucille said her voice trailing off.

Lucille’s Maw was currently pregnant with her fourth sibling. She had three younger brothers, a Pa, and a Maw. Her Maw could not work, and her Pa made barely enough money for her current family. I wanted to help her family, but what could I do? I was only the princess.

“But you are accompanying me to the guests chambers, right? And if you say you say you are busy, off with your head!” I screech, a playful grin hitting my face.

“As you wish your highness,” she says, a look of fake terror forms on her face.

“Wonderful acting Lucille, but you cannot fool me,” I say smiling.

As Lucille accompanies me to the guest chambers we talk about palace gossip. A boy named Jack had kissed a girl named Emma, but Emma was promised to another. So now Emma has called of her marriage and had run away with Jack. Regular castle drama, nothing new.

“Genevieve? Is that you I hear?” my mother asked.

I waved a quick goodbye to Lucille, and answered my mother with a quick yes. I entered the guest chambers, holding my dress up so I would not destroy any fabric by stepping on it with my Victorian heels.

As I entered the room my jaw dropped to the ground, shock taking over my body. I turned around and kicked off my heels. I ran as if my life depended on it, wanting to get away from the thoughts that over took my mind as I stepped into that room.

Inside that room was my future husband Prince Danielle. Worst of all, I did not love him.
