I Know Why the Caged Birds Sing
— sequence of quatrain
I know why the caged birds sing
They sing, o'course for they have voices
Hoping that their voices could ring
The deaf ears of the remorseless.
As long as there's hope, they won't stop
Singing a masked ballad of the un-free
Hoping for the message to be able to pop
What's hindering the actions of the authority.
Or that someone won't fall for deaf ears
And heed for the hidden message of their song
And if brave enough to scorn out their fears
And end the immorality of the wrong.
For in the pits of despair, there's still that spark of hope
To which they keep igniting that light
That one of these days, they'd finally cope
From the cage, keeping them from feeling what's right.
And that I know why the caged birds sing
Aside from the fact that they have voices,
They are aiming for justice to ring
And make the impossible possible for the remorseless.
