Eyebrows furrowed and jaw tight, he slices the luncheon meat—some pieces slightly thicker than others.

"Sorry," he whispers shyly.

"Why are you apologizing?"

"Because I messed them up."

"You didn't." Theodore hands him the spatula. "Go on. I'm starving."

They settle into their usual spots as if it's the most natural thing in the world: Jacob near the kitchen counter and Theodore by the sofa.

They've eaten together so many times, but that morning is strangely pleasant. In the past, their dining routine mostly involved ordering takeouts, with the rare occasion when Theodore took charge of the kitchen. It didn't come easy—he had to fight Jacob over it.

Theodore slathers ketchup over his luncheon meat and eggs before passing the bottle to Jacob.

"I didn't realize you like ketchup that much."

"I like spicy food, too."

"Oh. Me, too. What else?"

"Japanese cuisine," Theodore says. "You?"

"Same here."

"Are you kidding me?"

"No, I wouldn't lie to you."

Jacob grins and scoops up a mouthful of rice and egg, savoring it. "What else do you like? Aside from studying."

"You mean my hobbies?"

"Yes."

Theodore scratches his neck and looks sideways. "Ah... I watch a lot of animations. Anime."

"Why do you look embarrassed? I like them, too."

He meets Jacob's eyes. "Now I'm suspicious."

"I'm not copying you. I'm a fan of shonen and sports anime."

Theodore beams. "I see! Me, too. I like comedy. It's rare for people to like anime, so I thought you'd find it weird or something."

Jacob smiles, curling his fingers around his glass of juice. "We do seem to have quite a bit in common."

"I suppose..."

"How'd you learn how to cook? I'm pretty sure you had housekeepers to do stuff for you."

Theodore fidgets, lowering his eyes to his plate. "Why all the questions?"

"I told you. I want to know everything about you."

"After you've confessed that you like me? Getting to know me better is long overdue."

Jacob shifts in his seat, their legs brushing accidentally.

"Why? I want to be closer to you."

Theodore almost spits out his food. "Are you sure it's shonen that you watch? Your lines are very... cheesy. Like it's from a romance genre."

"Is it? Why? Because you got flustered?"

He bares his teeth, rolling his eyes. "'Course not! Besides... you've already declared yourself the person closest to me."

Jacob leans back and tips his head. "I guess you're right. I'm probably the only one who's shared the bed with you recently."

Theodore blushes. "Why do you have to make it sound so suggestive?"

"What? How did that sound suggestive? It's not like I said—"

"Alright, fine, don't say it. But why would you even assume that?"
