Next day
Philip was discharged from the hospital. He sat down at the reception contemplating what to do next in his life.
"Hey!" Peace called at him.
Startled, he looked up and saw the lady who brought him to the hospital staring at him with her eyebrows raised.
"Hi," he replied smiling at her faintly.
"What are you doing here? Aren't you going home?"
"Where will I go to?"
"What do you mean?"
Sighing, Philip replied, "I don't know where to go. I have no one here."
"That's surprising. How did that happen?"
"It's a long story."
Thinking about something for a moment, Peace's face lit up with a bright smile.
"How about you come and live at my place?
Philip stared at her like she'd grown two heads. Is she serious? Inviting a stranger to come live with her.
"What are you thinking about? You can come live with me."
"Uh.. How can you let me, a stranger live at your place? You don't even know me?" I questioned.
"Hmmm... No. I don't even know where you're coming from, but I have a feeling that you're a good person."
"Huh? Good person? How sure are you? I could be a thief you know?" He replied half-jokingly.
Laughing at me, she replied, "Then I know karate."
"Karate? Really?"
"Yes"
"Look, I can't stay at your place. It doesn't seem right."
"Oh, whatever. Come on. I'm not a bad person. I'm a good girl." She said grinning at me.
What kind of girl is this? Does she trust people this easily? Philip thought to himself.
Having no other option, Philip agreed reluctantly. "Okay. It's not like I have any place to go."
"Yay!" She exclaimed and jumped excitedly that I agreed to live with her.
"Hey hold on. I know you're happy, but don't give your trust to strangers so easily. It's not right." He advised.
"Do you think I randomly welcome strangers to live with me at my home?" She asked giving me a pointed look.
"How would I know?"
"Well, I don't know why I want to help you, but there's this knowing in my heart to do so. So, follow me and stop complaining."
"Yes ma'am!" He saluted giving a mock smile.
They left the hospital and hired a taxi to take them home.
After an hour, they arrived at Peace's apartment.
"You're welcome to my apartment." Peace said spreading her arms.
Smiling Philip replied, "Thank you. Brooklyn is a beautiful place. I'm glad your apartment is located here."
"I know right."
"Is this Park slope?"
"Yes, it is. Come on, let's go in. My apartment is located on the third floor."
They both walked to her apartment carrying the little bag consisting of the things Philip used at the hospital.
Opening the door, they took a step in and Philip was in awe looking at the interiors of the apartment.
