The room was dimly lit, with only the soft golden light of a bedside lamp illuminating the walls.
Silence surrounded the entire space, making it look almost lifeless.
But for him, the room was alive,Because she was there or at least, her portrait was.
A huge portrait of Varsha hung on the wall, capturing her beautiful smile perfectly. Standing in front of it was a man, his eyes filled with an emotion he had never experienced before.
Love....Pure, consuming, and almost maddening love.
A soft smile appeared on his lips as he stared at her picture, unable to look away even for a second.
"Ohh my goddess... paglo ki tarah idhar udhar tumko search kar raha tha aur tum? Tum mere paas tak khud chali aayi."
(Oh my goddess... I was searching for you like a madman everywhere, and you? You came to me on your own.)
His voice was soft, almost reverent, as if he was speaking to someone truly divine.
He slowly raised his hand and gently touched the portrait. "Aur tumko pata hai? Tumhe dekh ke aisa laga jaise... chand bhi tumse jalta hoga, aankhon ki gehraai se har ocean chidta hoga, aur tumhari phool jaisi muskaan se sabka dil pighalta hoga."
(And do you know? Looking at you felt as if even the moon would be jealous of you, every ocean would envy the depth of your eyes, and your flower-like smile would melt everyone's heart.)
His eyes softened further. "Goddess, tum meri ho ya nahi, yeh nahi pata... par main sirf tumhara hoon... sirf tumhara."
(Goddess, I don't know whether you are mine or not... but I am only yours... only yours.)
Leaning closer, he lovingly traced the edge of her portrait with his fingertips.
"Mujhe kabhi yeh pyaar naam ki cheez par yakeen nahi tha... aur pehli nazar wale pyaar par toh bilkul bhi nahi. Par phir tumhe dekha, aur mera sirf yakeen hi nahi, poori duniya badal gayi, Varsha."
(I never believed in something called love... and definitely not in love at first sight. But then I saw you, and not only my beliefs but my entire world changed, Varsha.)
Anyone who saw him at that moment would have thought he had lost his mind.
And perhaps he truly had because love had made him mad. Mad for her.
"Main tumhare liye kuch bhi kar sakta hoon, Varsha. Yeh chand-taare todne ki baat mat karna bas... chaho toh jaan maang lena, haste haste mar jaunga."
(I can do anything for you, Varsha. Just don't ask me to bring stars and moon... but if you ask for my life, I'll gladly give it away with a smile.)
A small smile appeared on his face. There was no hesitation in his words.
Every word carried absolute sincerity.
"Mere dil pe, mere ghar pe, meri duniya pe, aur mujh par... aaj se tumhara haq hai, jaan."
(From today, you have a right over my heart, my home, my world, and over me, my love.)
He stared at the portrait, almost expecting her to answer him as if somewhere deep inside, he believed she would.
After a long moment, he stepped back, but his eyes never left her face.
"Aaj tumhe kareeb se dekh ke... tumhare saath waqt bita ke... tumhe apni side pe baitha dekh kar maine shayad duniya ki saari khushiyan paa li hain."
(Seeing you so closely today... spending time with you... seeing you sitting beside me... I think I have found all the happiness this world has to offer.)
