Chapter Five: "I Have A Better Way To Pay You."

THE NEXT MORNING I AND MINERVA- that cooked me breakfast to implore forgiveness for last night and she also explained to me how lonely and scared she was; while I was eating she bombarded me with lots of reason why she should sleep in my room- both I and her made the decision to pay a visit to one of my old family "friend".

I wore the simplest but still sophisticated outfit whereas Minerva wore black skinny jeans, and a black singlet with a leather jacket on top, around her thigh she wore a tactical pistol gun holder and her hair was tied in a ponytail.

As Minerva pushed open the black -polished enough to see our own reflection on- gates of the office she shouted: "have you guys missed mommy?" and as soon as we entered she locked eyes with everyone in the room and she still held the same sadistic smile on her lips.

I slowly scanned the men that sat around the black glass surface of the long desk in front of us and in front of them they partially had a computer along with a black leather notebook. They all looked calm and composed not until they heard a low nearly inaudible tutting and almost immediately they all mechanically got up from their seats.

One of the men at my right-hand side reached for his front pockets and pulled out a gun pointing it towards me and Minerva, especially towards Minerva.

The moment played out in slow motion the rifle followed the movement of his arm and the way his body swung in, his finger slowly stroked the trigger.

I could feel the blood in my veins boil.
I reached over to one of the guns that were tucked into Minerva's waist and quickly heaved the gun out. I never really meant to shoot, I held the gun with both my hands. It was a handgun, still, I made sure to hold it with two hands but something troubled me.
I was only meant to point the gun towards the man but anger and uneasiness took over me blurring my vision, I squeezed the trigger in pure anger and fired a single shot.

I kept on repeating to myself: make sure your vision is narrow and be hyper-focused on details but either ways I knew I was focusing on the wrong details.

The handgun fired. Terrified Minerva stepped back slightly and I could infer her eyes were glued on me whereas the rest of the men clerks threw hands over their heads and crouched immediately to the floor as the bullet flew across the room and hit the gun out of the man's hand, it fell and rolled down the carpet.
The sound was swallowed greedily by the soft furnishings, carpets, along with the high ceiling and it came out as a deadened thump and loud clatter of shattering glass breaking.

I knew the gun unless it's trigger was pulled back it wouldn't have fired since there was a manual safety behind the bolt handle, meaning it wouldn't have fired at moment soon, I switched inletting out an annoyed sigh.
"Tell them to sit down, now! If he—" -I pointed the gun towards the man that pointed him to Minerva- "doesn't want to go home to his family without a hand and a job!" I ordered directing my eyes towards the girl with deep black curly hair that sat at the end of the table.

As I took a few steps closer I whispered smothering the gun on her cheek: "what a bad girl you've been, still haven't taught them how to greet properly. I'm not a Queen next time they should sit their asses down!"
I placed the gun one the desk and sighed, shutting my eyes close for a few seconds as I leaned with both my hands on the dark glass.

Her red lipstick stained lips came apart as she whispered: "well, I've seen your consigliera still doesn't understand how to knock before entering—"
