In and out. In and out. Step by step. Keep moving. This is all I think about. I feel empty since my perfect world crashed and burned. My mom died of cancer when I was twelve. A year later my father became a raging alcoholic. My brother became a party animal and a player. Sure he checked up on me, but never noticed the fake smile and the bruises under my make up. Behind that smile, Cass is broken. Behind the happy face, hides emotional scars. She is broken, abandoned, and bruised. She tells herself to keep moving, but her steps are slowing. She can't find a point to keep living until the boy next door peaks her interest. Can he help her find her true self again? Will he fill the missing parts of heart? SYNOPSIS: The difference between Derek and I is like trying to count a tall building with over a hundred floors. While he's the type that gets tattoos, parties, sleeps around and smokes chunks with his friends, I'm the kind of girl that secure good grades at school just to make mummy proud. I'm not his type, he calls me a minor and ruffles my hair like a kid but I don't want to be that to him. I want to be everything he wants me to be, I want to be everything he likes in a woman even if it means skipping classes, partying and making mummy sad. I knew coming back to Austin TX after four years and getting to see those magnetic gray orbs that kept pulling me closer, those devilish lips, the smirk that whispers; 'Do what would make your mom disappointed' would be a bad idea. Having been abandoned by my parents, I went ahead to be rejected by the people I was forced to live with. My life is not great, so when the last straw comes, I wave it all goodbye. The thing is, I don't know where to go, what to do, or how to survive. So when I am kidnapped, then misidentified, then shot, I run. I run and run until I fall into a group where I finally seem to belong... But everything goes awry, and I must once again fight for acceptance. But now, there is so much more to lose.
