Taking place 70 years after the war against Koschei, Prythian has seen almost a century of peace and prosperity. The children of the Inner circle have grown and all eyes are on Nyx Archeron, the next High Lord of the Night Court. Nyx, however, has no intention of taking on the role, or any of the responsibility that accompanies it, any time soon. In fact, he'd rather not take it on at all. That is, until a certain Valkyrie-in-training waltzes into his life and knocks him down a peg, literally. Tate Ilsley has been training her entire life to become worthy of the title of Valkyrie commander, refusing to take a breath for even a moment until she feels like she has proven herself. When Nesta offers her a short cut to achieving everything she's ever dreamed of, she refuses to allow the infuriating and arrogant Nyx to stand in her way. Every day became worse than the last until the lord and lady of the night court come with a mysterious Illyrian warrior that lights something aflame inside Aurora. Nessian modern au Cassian and Nesta are highschool sweethearts. They've been together for more than five years now and their lives are about to begin. Nesta's graduation seems so close that she can't wait to finish college and finally be able to do everything she was forbidden to do in the last years of her life. Get a job at PSA, better known as the Prythian Space Agency, move in with Cassian in one of those perfect apartments in the suburbs, adopt a dog and spend the rest of her life with him. When her plans are completely screwed up by his, Nesta will be forced to face some of the most difficult moments of her life knowing that Cassian may not always be there by her side.

When I was born it was always Thesan and Athena never mind the fact that I was born 7 minutes before him and the same was true through all of our life. When our father died it was no exception you would think that the first born child would be crowned, false, apparently it's only the first born male. But I guess it wasn't totally awful when Thesan was crowned High Lord of the Dawn Court he assigned me Commander of the Dawn Court's Armies. Well until he met his lover but I'm getting ahead myself. This is where my story begins. I did not create any of these characters, places, or basic storylines. Our beautiful Sarah J Mass did us the honor of creating them. The only thing I have created is Athena and her story.

Written from the POV of Azriel from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series, the reader experiences a somewhat brief story of his childhood from his lonely time in his father's camp to meeting Rhysand and Cassian and performing the blood rite. The night court, along with the rest of prythian is relieved to be done with war. But what happens when a girl from an unknown land appears during a high lord meeting in an iron coffin??
