"Make friends with my daughter, and I'll pay you a thousand dollars." Tara's junior year of high school is turned upside down after she collides into the life of Aurora Rosenberg, the autistic teenage heiress to Rosenberg Technologies. Mr. Rosenberg's offer feels wrong... but he says his daughter has no real friends, and Tara's family is desperate for cash. Now what? Tara needs to make this work. It doesn't matter that her best friend moved away. Or that she may lose her house. Or that her other friends no longer like her. Oh, yes: and there's a cute boy involved. And the mystery of why Aurora's dad is so desperate to buy her a friend, when Aurora is hardly a social pariah... As Tara watches pieces of her life fall apart, and new things come together, she must figure out what she values most. Notes: Rated mild PG-13. But then Brendon commits suicide, leaving behind a cell phone with a series of messages meant for Len alone. My dissertation was rated a 1:1 an it's especially helpful to read if you identify as female and have a hard time trying to get loved ones and friends to believe you have autism. That's actually a fundamental basis of my research. I knew from 12 but didn't get diagnosed until 17 because of those unfortunate social biases. I'm sharing this because I needed this when I was growing up and by "this" I mean something that is not too hard to digest, but accurate and educational, because sometimes understanding is all you need to stay afloat. My original story's title "I won't force you to love me" is kind of confrontational, so it should be interpreted as "I will not be a different person from the one I am, just to gain your approval". There are many more insights that might be added to the end, which couldn't fit in the 10-12k word limit. I'm just so excited to finally share it all, since I'm finally passed the assessment phase.

It seems like nobody diagnoses adults. Why is it so hard to find resources?

She got falsely diagnosed with ADHD, yet somehow feels different- How will she resolve the conflict of sometimes disturbing therapies, destructive thoughts, being a „difficult child" and gaining independence as she grows up?
