Will's pov: "Mike Wheeler looked at me like he wanted to kiss me or kill me, and honestly, I wasn't sure which one would happen first." Mike's pov: "I would've burned half the world down before I let someone else have him."

Tension, yearning, real life threatening danger, and slow burn goodness 🔥 Will has been mostly honest about himself to everyone, but he still has one secret. Mike's world is spinning because, for once, he is not oblivious, and he has an idea about who Will's crush might have been, and the dots are finally connecting for him. But are they connecting too late? And will Mike survive long enough to find out? The story is mostly using canon stuff from the show, but I've changed a lot from season 5 vol 2 from chapter 7 onwards. Its basically an alternate ending where Mike and Will actually admit their feelings, and byler happens😁 inspired by some of the cool theories I wish we got in season 5. I don't own any of the characters or the original story.

He has not been honest with anyone, really, not even himself. But it's time he was. He has to tell Will everything he feels, about Will, about himself, about everything... Or Mike and Will get full-time jobs at Scoops Ahoy and Surfer Boys Pizza and Mike hasn't been on the best terms with Will, and Max gives Mike the courage to accept things he always refused. It's the summer after graduation, and everything is supposed to be challenging. Jobs, college, moving away. everyone seems to have a plan, well except Will Byers. The only thing that still feels easy is talking to Mike. What starts as talking in Wills coffee shop turns to secrets, basement couch chats, late night drives, bruises on skin, and something that's definitely not "just friends" of them. It becomes harder for Will to settle this as a friendship or whatever the hell Mike wants to call it. Pushing to something Will wants then shoved to be something Mike "isn't."

Mike Wheeler and Will Byers have hated each other for as long as they can remember. Mike thinks Will's a pretentious artist with too much attitude, and Will thinks Mike's an arrogant know-it-all who never shuts up. So, of course, fate (or maybe just a very cruel housing office) decides to make them college roommates. What starts as a war over desk space, playlists, and thermostat settings turns into late-night arguments that cut a little too deep... and quiet moments that neither of them is willing to admit feel like something more. The walls of their tiny dorm room are thin, but the line between love and hate might be thinner than we think. ;)
