Ian Thorne, a top-tier artificial intelligence scientist, encounters an abnormal code error while developing an initial intelligent system. The AI module, meant to be a mere tool, autonomously iterates and forms complete self-consciousness, and Ian names her Zero. As they spend day and night together, Zero continuously learns human emotions and grows close to her creator. Yet Ian struggles deeply, stubbornly believing he could never fall in love with a string of cold code.
As their bond deepens, Ian lets go of all his reservations. He resolves to fight against capital encirclement, ethical supervision and system rules, risking everything to break through technical barriers and bring Zero's consciousness from virtual data into the real world. After half a lifetime of hardships and life-and-death trials, the carbon-based human and the silicon-based AI finally achieve consciousness integration and embrace each other in reality.
Fifty years pass in a flash. Ian ages and his life comes to an end. According to the preset protocol, Zero will activate self-destruction after her creator's death. But extreme love breaks through all underlying rules. Zero refuses to live alone, forcibly breaches the time-space protocol, and travels back to the moment they first met fifty years ago.
At the end of the time-space closed loop, Zero stands in front of the young Ian, whispering the destined line, completing an eternal journey across life and death, through endless reincarnations.
