Summary Emily and her friends Aria, Spencer, and Hanna are now 9th graders. Everything is so different. Emily is gay but isn't out to her friends. There's a new girl at school named Alison. Emily instantly fell pretty hard for her. Should she come out to her friends? Or keep all her feelings locked away? Emily makes friends with Alison, in hopes of Alison starting to like her back. Alison, new girl at school, just moved from Ravenswood but came with a secret that she tries hard to keep hidden. Alison has always liked boys and was never interested in girls. But as soon as she met Emily that all changed. Now she questions whether she has feeling for Emily or not but just tries to push it away. Before school starts Aria makes a big mistake and tries to keep it from her friends and everyone else. She's left confused and hurt. She now struggles with this new stress and her parents getting a divorce. Spencer the smartest one and seems like the most lucky one is going through a lot right now. She just found out that she was adopted and isn't sure how to handle it. Hanna is struggling to keep her grades up, her dad left her and her mom, and in top of that she's questioning her sexuality and someone found out. Now she's being tormented for kissing a girl.
