Iracebeth reached for the alchemy text at the exact same moment another hand did.
Her fingers paused against the worn spine immediately, crimson eyes lifting from the shelf to the girl standing opposite her. For a second, neither of them moved.
Then the faintest trace of amusement touched Iracebeth’s face.
“…Either you are about to make very questionable decisions in the laboratory…” A slight pause as her gaze lingered briefly on her. “…or you simply have excellent taste in books.”
@potionprincess Iracebeth let out a soft hum of amusement, crimson eyes lingering on Yzla far longer than necessary as she moved along the shelves. “Interesting mistakes,” she repeated quietly. “You say that like I am supposed to resist becoming curious about them.” She accepted the book from her carefully, fingers brushing against Yzla’s hand for a brief moment before pulling away far slower than politeness required. “And I do think I prefer bold.” The corner of her mouth curved faintly upward. “Bold people tend to make life significantly less boring.” At the introduction, Iracebeth tilted her head slightly, tasting the name in her mind before speaking it aloud. “Yzla.” A softer pause followed. “That sounds like the sort of name someone writes into a story right before making very poor decisions over her.” Then her crimson eyes lifted back toward her again, warm with unmistakable intrigue now. “Iracebeth.” A faint smile lingered afterward. “And no, I do not think I would mind talking to you again either.”
@tobehead " well I make interesting mistakes, right? Can't go back on that now " she took the book in hand, holding it out to the other girl " I prefer bold, but I definitely wouldn't mind talking to you again " the smirk remained as she moved, not yet leaving but searching the shelves for a new book that would suit her needs " I'm Yzla, by the way. should've started with that "
@potionprincess Iracebeth’s gaze lingered on her far too long after that, crimson eyes tracing the small smirk on her face before she finally looked down toward the book between them again. “…Mm. Clever and confident.” A faint hum followed. “That combination usually ends disastrously for everyone involved.” Despite the warning, there was no real resistance left in her tone now — only intrigue softening the usual sharpness around her edges. When the other girl pulled the book closer, Iracebeth’s fingers brushed briefly against hers before slipping away slowly. “And inviting me to join you next time?” Her brows lifted faintly. “You are either very bold…” A slight pause as the corner of her mouth curved upward. “…or very interested in continuing this conversation.” For once, the princess did not seem entirely opposed to either option.
