Tessa's POV:

After an hour or two of wandering here and there, we finally spot a hotel type thing. I am starving and so is he, we haven't had any proper meal since morning and it's around 2 pm now. We've almost finished our stock of snacks already.

"I hope we find some fucking network here" he says while parking the car outside the cottage. He's getting more frustrated with time and I don't know how to handle him when he gets angry to his core.

We get out of the car and I notice that this place is in middle of nowhere, it is giving abandoned vibes. There's forest greenery around and just this hotel in the middle. There must be someone in charge so thankfully we'll get some idea of our whereabout and our way back to the highway.

By the look of it, I'm sure this place doesn't get many visitors often. It doesn't even have a name board outside.

"Hello?" Hardin calls out as we walk inside, his voice echoes in the walls. The place looks like someone's house or a truckers' motel. I can't really tell.

A set of footsteps enter the area and we spot a man coming towards us. He's old, not more than Ken's age.

"Yes?" he speaks as he gets closer and Hardin takes a deep breath before talking to him. "How did you get in?" the man gasps and we look at the already open door. Realization hits him and a chuckle breaks through him. "My bad, how may I help you?"

"We were just looking for the highway- and we seem to be lost" Hardin says, looking at me during the last sentence, clearly blaming me.

"Oh. I've got many lost people around here" he laughs and walks past us somewhere. "Would you like a cup of tea?" he asks.

"No, thank you" Hardin fake smiles and removes his phone to check if there's any network.

"There's no network around here" the man says without looking at us and Hardin throws his hands down, muttering something under his breath.

"The fuck are we supposed to do now?" he looks at me and I hold his hands, trying to calm him a bit but it doesn't seem to work.

"I could lead you to the main road, I have some work there anyways" the old man says, drawing our attention towards him.

"That'd be great" I smile at him which he returns and takes a seat on the sofa.

Hardin looks at me in confusion, we both have no idea why he sat down after saying he would help us.

"Let him finish his tea" I lean in and whisper in his ear.

"For fuck's sake" he runs his fingers through his hair and sighs.

I patiently wait for the man to finish his tea, Hardin, not so much. He kept knocking his foot impatiently, looking at the man with glaring eyes and tutting now and then.

"Ah" the man finally stands up. "Give me a minute and I'll join you outside" he smiles and I grab Hardin's hand before he throws it on something or on that man's face.

"Why are you being so impatient?" I whisper as we walk outside.

"Are you serious? We're lost in nowhere when I had these 5 star bookings for us. We could have been in a spa or something but instead we're here watching an old wanker drinking his tea at the speed of a fucking tortoise" he scoffs and I can't help but laugh at his expressions right now. He's pissed but I always find it funny.

"We always go to a 5 star hotel or something. This is a new adventure for us, why don't you just lighten up a bit" I turn him to face me and hold his face between my palms to kiss his pouty lips. His wrinkled forehead straightens up a bit and he gives me the slightest of a smile before kissing me again, with more passion.
