Fun trivia about my childhood before we start- I once burnt down a wooden temple in my house while lighting a diya when I was a kid. Didn't notice in the start, went to eat dinner and only when my parents saw smoke coming from upstairs, they ran to stop the fire.

Kiara's POV

"Pick up, pick up, pick up." Keeping the phone near my ear, I muttered as my gaze kept returning to the crowd of photographers gathered at the college entrance.

One of the photographers spotted me and waved, trying to grab my attention. The others noticed me too and followed his actions. I bit my tongue, shutting my eyes in regret and hid behind a pillar.

What did I land myself into?

I had just finished my last lecture 5 minutes ago, when one of my classmates informed me that the paparazzi had blocked the main gate of the college and were waiting for me to make an appearance.

As if that magazine fiasco wasn't enough.

"Hello." Arjun answered from the other side and I sighed in relief.

"Where were you? Are you busy? Can we talk?" I spoke in one go, my breath winding up in the last.

"Just a second." I heard some rustling and a muffled 'excuse me'. "Is everything okay?"

"Not really."

"What happened?"

"We are on the cover page of a magazine."

"So?"

"You don't understand." I walked away from the students lazing around the corridor, lowering my voice. "It's a picture of us kissing at the airport."

"What?" He almost yelled and I cringed away from the phone.

"Yes. They know about my college too. The paparazzi are gathered in front of my college. My classes are over and I don't think I can get out without them noticing."

Arjun let out a string of curses while I could already imagine him raking a hand through his hair in frustration.

"Stay there. I'm coming to pick you up." His voice was laced with steely resolve and I chose not to argue with him.

Moreover, I was somewhat relieved because I don't think I could have handled it all on my own.

"Okay."

"If you want, I can bring my chopper instead. You won't have to deal with the media then."

I pulled away from the phone, my jaw hitting the floor.

A freaking chopper? Are you kidding me?

"What? No! Car is fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes!" I exclaimed loudly. "I'm not the President of the country stuck in the middle of a war."

He chose to ignore my statement. "Fine. I'll be there in 10." He cut the call and I shook my head at his absurdness.

He was unbelievable sometimes.

As I massaged my temple to get rid of the slight headache, my eyes wandered to Maahi who was waving at the photographers and posing for them. Nandini was grinning like a mad woman on crack and clicking their pictures in return. As for Saumya, she seemed overwhelmed with the whole situation and was admiring the view like she was seeing snow for the first time.

Why am I even friends with them?

Hadn't it been for our professor who entered the class in the morning at the right time, they would have grilled me non-stop unless I told them everything about our kiss down to the last detail. But even the professor couldn't save me from the occasional sly smirks and looks they sent my way all the time along with the silent promise of revenge. I could see it on their faces. They were already racking their brains for different torture techniques on how to get the information out of me. And if it wasn't enough, they would randomly face me during the lecture, puckering their lips in a pout and making weird kissing noises until I turned red either due to embarrassment or anger.
