Chapter 55 is up on stck 💕

•••

Ishmal was sitting on her bed, leaning at the headrest while looking at Eifa. “Mujhe lagta hai ab choti mummy aur chachu Ehan bhai ka koi bahana nahi sunege.

(I think now choti mummy and chachu won’t listen to any more of Ehan bhai’s excuses.)

Eifa didn’t even look up. She was busy with her nighttime skincare routine, completely indifferent to the conversation. Her silky black hair was pushed back with a headband, and the sleeves of her shirt were rolled up. Sitting comfortably on her bed, she applied serum with calm precision, using a small mirror placed in front of her.

Sahi bhi hai, ab unki shadi ho jani chahiye.” Ishmal continued when Eifa gave no response.

(And rightly so, he should get married now.)

On the other side, Sharfa was lying down, absently stroking Lily’s head as the cat rested beside her. Eira sat on her own bed, scrolling through her phone, though every few minutes her eyes darted toward Lily. She hoped her cat would finally remember her instead of clinging to Sharfa. Ever since they had returned, Lily had refused to go near her. She had even gone to Eifa, but not to Eira. Eira knew Lily was upset because she had left her for two days, but going off to Sharfa like this? That was just unfair.

Woh shadi nahi karna chahte?” Layla asked suddenly before she could stop herself. The moment the words left her mouth, she realized she was prying into someone else’s personal matters.

(He doesn’t want to get married?)

Ishmal shrugged lightly. “Aliya ke liye waise unhone khud hi haan kaha, warna meri shadi ke baad se maine toh dekha tha choti mummy roz kisi nayi ladki ke barey mein Ehan bhai ko batati thi, aur woh hamesha koi bahana bana dete the taki milna na parhe.”

(Well, he said yes himself for Aliya, otherwise since my wedding, I’ve seen choti mummy suggest a new girl to him every other day, and he always made some excuse to avoid meeting them.)

Kyu?” Layla asked curiously.

(Why?)

Kyuki ussey apni pasand ki ladki nahi mil rahi thi.” Eifa finally replied, her tone even. She had finished with her face and was now rubbing moisturizer onto her hands.

(Because he couldn’t find a girl he liked.)

Ab finally mil gayi.” Ishmal said happily. “Aliya mujhe perfect lagti hai Ehan bhai ke liye. Unke sath aisi confident ladki hi suit karti hai.

(And now he finally has.)

(I think Aliya is perfect for Ehan bhai. Only a confident girl like her suits him.)

Layla recalled the evening scene, Aliya and Ehan standing together and had to agree. They really did look good together.

“I don’t like Aliya.” Eira said suddenly, breaking the moment.

Tumhe woh isliye nahi pasand kyuki shuru shuru mein woh tumhe Eifa bulati thi.” Eifa remarked dryly.

(You don’t like her because in the beginning she used to call you Eifa.)

Maine kitni baar unhe correct kiya but she kept calling me Eifa.” Eira complained, but her words were cut short when someone knocked on the door. Everyone’s gaze shifted toward it, but no one moved. With a small sigh, it was Sharfa who finally got up to answer.

(I corrected her so many times, but she kept calling me Eifa.)

Kian stood at the door, his voice loud enough for everyone inside to hear. “Momo, Ishmal se kaho bahar aye.”
