Today, I woke up on time for school. I planned for today to be a good day and go how I wanted it to.

I showered for ten minutes, put on some high waisted denim jeans, a red tank top, white converses, and prepared a nice meal. I also got to listen to music with no interruptions.

Thank God for Milo and Spotify premium.

I walked out to the garage to drive to school when my brother rushed past me. "Sorry sis" he spoke as he got into the passenger seat. 

Asshole.

I pulled out my phone and dialed Emma's number."Hey, I'm gonna need that ride" I spoke nervously into the phone even though I know she would do anything for me.

After waiting for five minutes for Emma to get there I get into the back middle seat of her Tesla. Cooper, our other best friend who is openly gay, is seated in the passanger seat fixing his makeup for the day.

"Guys, I got Milo's Spotify premium" I spoke with happiness in my voice. "Damn Kiani, get some" Emma laughed while turning out of my driveway.

"He's so charming and flirty. It's not okay" I said as I watched Cooper apply his concealer. Emma was bobbing her head to the music that was playing. "He is a real flirt" Emma said while turning into the school and turning down the music. 

"Honestly, you just need some dick to get over him" Cooper said as he applied his chapstick and exited the car after we parked.

"Don't listen to him" Emma rolled her eyes and chuckled. "If he likes you back he will put forth an effort to speak to you. You know this, listen to your true feelings. Now let us get to class." Emma looked back at me after turning off her car and symbolizing a heart with her thumb and index finger. "Thanks love" I smiled and symboled it back. 

We said are goodbyes until physics. 

First went by as slow as possible. I stared at the clock every five minutes, waiting for it to turn to 9:25. It's that long painful hour and twenty minutes that I hate, it never ends.

But finally it does... 

Once again my heart starts racing as the door comes into view. My palms get sweaty and I get butterflies. Even though I know Milo gets there after me I always get nervous. It's a never ending cycle.

I sat in my normal seat and pulled out my supplies when I noticed a pair of shoes that I have never seen before come through the door. They are a pair of slightly worn green New Balance sneakers. 

As soon as I noticed this I glanced up. He's cute and stylish. 

He is dressed in a pair of acid washed grey jeans, a dark blue sweater, a grey bomber jacket, and a pair of wire glasses. His hair is dark brown and parted to the side. It's wispy, with a slight curl to it. He is tall, maybe six foot two?

"Hi, I'm new and this is physics? My second period?" I overheard him as he spoke with Mrs. Jenny.

"Yes, you must be Hugo Owens. I've been expecting you to arrive" Mrs. Jenny gave a smile and led him to his seat. Which might I add was diagonal from me and at the same table.

He set his stuff on the table and sat down. I glanced at him and immediately felt my face glow.

Damn he is cute.

"Uhm hi" I mumbled to him.

"Hi, nice to meet you. I'm Hugo" He gave a slight smile and I noticed his German accent. His voice is deep and smooth. His voice flowed nicely.

I smiled. "I'm Kiani. Di-" I stopped mid sentence when I saw Milo walk in. I noticed when I looked at Milo, Hugo looked at me questioningly and then at him. I could hear Hugo softly say "ohhhh". 

Emma sat beside me and joined in. She nudged my shoulder and signaled towards the new girl in the room. "Who is that?" Emma said as she caught my attention and looked towards a tall, brown haired girl.

"Oh, that's my sister. Alex" Hugo said and then looked towards me.

"Hey, Hugo. If you want you can sit with me, Emma, and Cooper at lunch" I gave him a slight smile and noticed how his face lit up slightly.

Class went smoothly. It was almost like Milo wasn't there most of the time. Hugo is nice, he is shy but it's cute.

It was lunch time. Our first lunch with our new friend.

"Oh my gosh. Apparently you can go to a club as long as you don't drink alcohol and have a chaperone." Cooper said as he sat his lunch bag down and took his seat. He sat his phone down and went to speak when he noticed Hugo seated beside me.

"And who is this?" Cooper eyed him as if he was candy and I had to stifle a laugh.

"This is Hugo. Hugo this is Cooper." I looked at Hugo and smiled at him. Hugo stuck out his hand for Cooper to shake it. Cooper grabbed his hand lightly and shook it slowly up and down.

For a moment it was silent until Alex and Emma walked over together. 

"Cooper meet Alex" Emma said as they both sat next to Cooper. Emma turned toward Alex and they continued on with their conversations.

"So, Hugo. Where are you from?" I turned to him and rested my cheek on my hand that was propped up on the table. 

"I'm from Germany. We just moved to America." His accent was thick and smooth. He didn't sound angry when he spoke, which was nice.

"That's nice" I smiled at him and then made eye contact with him. Hugo's eyes are brown but it's like a honey brown. They aren't to dark, it's almost relaxing.

I didn't realize that we sat there looking into each others eyes for a moment until Cooper spoke out.

"So, how are you and your crush. Milo" I snapped my head towards Cooper and then adjusted myself in my seat. 

"Uh yeah. Same old stuff still. Just the regular friendship" I cleared my throat and sighed. I looked towards Hugo and instead of a smile he had a slight frown.

The rest of the day was filled with awkward conversations and shy smiles between me and Hugo.

Way to go Kiani.
