In 8th grade English, one of the many things we learned was to test drive our characters by putting them in a "typical dinner at home" situation. Based on Mia, from my short story "Starved" this even shorter short story shows what Mia's home life is like. I wrote this story in one of my notebooks, so it isn't the best thing I've ever written, however I thought test driving was an interesting idea and wanted to write the story here.

The story is about a young girl who was a princess hiden to return and conquer the dark energys of Kayler the city of love. so one day she had to return to Kayler and save her people. The air was thick with an otherworldly energy as the young girl ventured into the abandoned stores of Dethrost, her footsteps echoing off the dusty shelves. The workshop, once a hub of creativity and magic, lay before her like a treasure trove, its secrets waiting to be uncovered. The mystical books, bound in worn leather and adorned with cryptic symbols, seemed to whisper secrets in her ear as she passed, their pages rustling softly in the silence. And then, she saw it - a book with a glittering cover that seemed to shimmer and shine like the stars on a clear night sky. As she reached out to touch it, the air seemed to vibrate with anticipation, and the shadows in the room began to twist and writhe like living things. With the book held tightly in her hand, she descended into the darkness of the basement, the sound of her footsteps fading into the depths of the unknown.
