Whatever the reason, something about it stayed with me long after it ended. For a long time, I hoped for a second part. Requested one, even. I kept returning to the story because it felt like there was still so much left unsaid, so much more that could have unfolded within that world and between those characters. But eventually, it became clear that continuation might never come. So this became my own version of it.
