Some lives are measured in impact, not time. Gone too soon. Not gone unfinished. What burns briefly can still light everything. Presence does not require permanence. The world remembers what it felt. Some endings are only outward.

This poem, "Fortunately, The End," is a poignant reflection on the bittersweet nature of closure. It explores the sharp contrast between the "rose wood" fragrance of new beginnings and the cold reality of a friendship that failed to find common ground. The verses capture the frustration of being unheard and the eventual, weary acceptance that comes when one person chooses to walk away. By framing the conclusion as "fortunate," the poem suggests that while the ending is painful, it is also a necessary release from a connection that lacked the kindness of mutual understanding. It is a tribute to the quiet dignity found in letting go when staying no longer feels like an option.

    * * * [prequel scenes of Unfaithful] Years and years before the storm that tore apart their friendship, Lily Adams neé Johnson, Nate Adams, and Georgina Saunders were all just children and teens, making their way down their separate, yet difficult school years. Fire is Georgina Saunders, with her aggressive attitude that stems from a gentle, harmless flame. Ice is Nate Adams, who must be strong to protect his loved ones but might crack under the pressure. Feather is Lily Adams Johnson, who is soft and kind - unsuspecting even when a gust of wind hits. When they meet, well, some affairs remain ageless, something you'd only see with their lives on rewind.
