"Yeah," Ramon said quietly. "People like me start needing people like you." Zaria looked at him wide-eyed Zaria Elise Wynters, an average college student who used to be sunshine - the lively, bubbly girl whose laughter could brighten even the dullest days. Until one fallout with the person she trusted most shattered everything she believed about friendship, loyalty, and herself. Now the girl who once lit up every room is only a quiet shadow, trying to gather the scattered pieces of her heart while pretending she's still the same Zaria everyone remembers. But Ramon never understood her. Cold, antisocial, and easily irritated by people, he had watched her from afar for months, skeptical of how anyone could be that happy all the time. To him, her bright smiles and endless kindness felt like nothing more than a performance - a desperate attempt to please everyone around her. Until he notices she changed. The laughter faded, the light in her eyes dimmed. And somehow, Ramon found himself noticing the difference more than anyone else. So when Zaria unexpectedly starts talking to him - laughing with him, sharing small pieces of her world - Ramon discovers something he's never felt before. For the first time in his life, someone's presence quiets the chaos inside him. He doesn't have a name for what he feels yet. But he knows one thing for certain. Do tell, what emotions weigh you down? * Perhaps guilt. Or self-hatred. Or loneliness. * * Maybe it goes deeper. Guilt because you did something horrible that can not be forgiven, but you still play as the victim or the innocent. Self-hatred because you can't do things or won't try things when you should. Loneliness because people seem to be distant from you, or because they aren't acting the way you expect them to. * * * Maybe it goes even deeper. Maybe your reasons are different. Maybe you are so scared and ashamed that you're afraid to seek help, talk about it, or trust. * * * * What do we do in these times? I look for people who are similar. I see their struggles, and I think 'oh, they're just like me,' and that lifts some weight off my chest. To know that I am not alone brings me relief. * * * * * Maybe you do it differently. Maybe reading this book, where a plain person struggles and fights against herself and her emotions, is not what you want to do with your spare time. * * * * * * That is understandable. But for those who are like me, I present to you a tale of a girl in confusion because she can't tell between her emotions. She hates herself for the unforgivable things she had done, as well as the smallest choices. She is sick of being able to feel, and she is a coward, and she is a horrible person, and she doesn't deserve her wonderful life. * * * * * * * Are you interested? A forbidden love you can't seem to escape even if you tried. You have to love each other in secrecy. If someone knows about it, it could destroy you both. It was wrong to be together, but you couldn't help falling in his arms again, over and over. It was a painful pleasure that was slowly destroying you inside. Every time he left, you were left to pick up the pieces and each one opened a new wound that called for help. Called for him. "Not again," you say. He struggles with the destructive impact of leaving his Lebanese household and working in a bland industry like finance- so he turns to escapism and romanticism of 1960s Beirut through the old records of Fairuz he has. Shy and frustrated 21 year old Lebanese-American and originally from Boston, Mariam Hassan is trying to make her name in the art world known, but is struggling to make it in New York City. She's finished with the struggles of life and has become suicidal. So when these two meet, why do both of them suddenly get vivid flashbacks of memories spent together long ago in 1960s Beirut, and when they are tasked with writing an autobiography about their lives, why does the love between them seem so inseparable- in the past life or the next?

This is going to be where I rant about the good, the bad, and the random things that happen in my life. I need to vent somehow and I feel like I don't have anyone I can talk to without getting in trouble somehow. I know at least somebody can relate to me.
