The USS Hyperion was called out to respond to a distress call that originated from a small mining freighter outside Klingon space. When they arrived, they were surprised to see a class 17 nebula floating in space. Federation ships had scouted out this part of the galaxy down to the last inch. There were no records of any nebula in this area. The Hyperion went into the nebula for further investigation.
