Then the world ended. She and her mother packed up the car with her little sister Ivy, hoping to escape Georgia and reach the safety of Atlanta. But what started as a desperate plan shattered on the roadside-when her mother suffered a heart attack behind the wheel. With no emergency services, no help, and only a few months of first aid training, Elena was forced to make an impossible choice. She buried the woman who raised her and drove away with a shell-shocked eleven-year-old in the passenger seat. Gridlock stopped them just outside the city. Walkers flooded the highway. This is a walking dead fanfic: The end never seems to be what you think it will. When you're young you probably didn't think much of it, maybe you though "I'll be old like grandpa when I go." Then quickly move on with you're life. Maybe you think about it again later as life gets harder, and you get older, "maybe I'll trip and get hit by a bus." Or "maybe I'll die from a heart attack in my 60s". Grim... but not as grime as what the world had to offer now.
