"Bridget Jones with a lot more wine! This story is hilarious, feel-good and relatable in all the best ways!" - Grace K @ HQ. She's just quit her high-flying job, and her marriage is coasting on fumes. Can Alice find a sense of purpose in the wreckage? ***** Alice's life isn't going to plan. She's tied to her phone, pointlessly managing PR for a sinking corporate megalith. She's become a bit player in her kids' lives, and her marriage is coasting on fumes. Forcing herself into action with a rash resignation, Alice sets out to make a positive impact on the world around her. But how? Meditation leads to napping, and her attempts to get closer to her teenage daughter result in the discovery of a secret that leaves her at a loss. As the months tick by and a sense of purpose continues to elude her, Alice finds herself forming bonds with the most unlikely characters: the young woman who panhandles outside her old office; the homeless boy who sits cross-legged outside the liquor store with his ginger cat; her own dog walker who, it turns out, knows a thing or two about developing a good crema. Testing the limits of marriage, motherhood and the Toronto subway system -- can Alice find her way into a purpose-driven life? Or will it all be one giant hangover? [*Wattpad Editor's Pick 2018*] [[word count: 70,000-80,000 words]] Readers say: "This had me laughing so loud that my sister came to check up on me to see if I'm OK!!!" "...the new Bridget Jones, a working woman's take on the digital age." About the Author: Working mother and red wine enthusiast, Renee lives in Toronto with her flawed but wonderful family (seriously, who left socks on the kitchen counter?) in a flawed but wonderful house (what *is* that smell in the basement?) where she writes flawed but wonderful stories about what it is to be a woman today.

Do you ever find yourself holding back from expressing how you really feel? There are so many things you want to share, so many thoughts and emotions you want to express-yet you often choose silence. Sometimes there are things you want to do. You explain your side, but you don't like to argue. You choose understanding over conflict, peace over unnecessary debates, and you simply move forward. There are also moments when you feel excited about something - something you want, something that makes your heart light. But instead of sharing that excitement with others, you keep it quietly within yourself. If that sounds familiar, then maybe we are a bit alike. What I'm writing here are the thoughts behind my silence. I believe many of us carry the same unspoken feelings. But this time, don't limit yourself. Allow yourself to express. This is a safe space for everyone. Feel free to explore the topics that resonate with you and let those emotions out.

"Can you show me how to do that" He straighten up "what that?" "Yeah show me". I put my drink down and grabbed his stick. He racked up a new set of balls and handed my the pool cue. I made strong eye contact and made sure to bend over the table significantly more than was necessary. With a crack the balls scattered in several directions. "How'd I do?" He was not expecting me to be that good, but little did he know I had been playing pool at this exact table for a little over 8 years. "Blimey" "I didn't think cute British guys actually said things like that?" He smiled "so you think I'm cute" One of the waiters came over and handed us two beers. He reached for his wallet attempting to pay. Don't worry I've got it. I held the beers up to Penny who was keeping a motherly eye on me from across the bar. She mouthed "He's cute" I nodded approvingly.

These poems are created about life and experiences from being, scared of change, havingidentity crisis, become homeless, lose a job, or are determined, and see the best in life there should be at least one poem that everyone can relate to in my collection. Please give me feedback so that I can improve my writing. For now I do this as a creative outlet in an otherwise uncreative life.
