2: Fake compliments. Going back to the female majority userbase. Women are going to act like women because the majority of the userbase are women . And one thing women love to do is give fake compliments. I see this all the time in women, young to old. “Oh wow, you’re story’s so good” “Oh wow, your characters are so interesting” They don’t care but want to give fake compliments to make themselves feel better. Why am I spending ages giving feedback, advice, and going the entire nine yards just to get some fake advice back. I am not trying to be misogynistic but it’s true, women love giving people false confidence, I saw this all the time in College “Oh Imarnie, you’re so pretty!” “Imarnie, you’re so beautiful” “Imarnie, you’re so smart” Then as soon as Imarnie or any other girl would leave the room they would absolutely berate her and call her Gargomel and ugly and disgusting and laugh and run jokes about her. Imarnie was just a loner autistic girl that didn’t give anyone trouble.

Men don’t give false compliments, they just tell you to your face. None of this trying to build someone up when they’re praying on their downfall, just tell it to them directly.

I’m leaving Wattpad and so I am going to air my grievances since I have no backlash to face anymore.

1: Being a minority on this app is isolating. Being a man especially a Black man on this is a complete remote island. 90% of the userbase is female and a good majority is white. Other men I find are white and they tend to not want to interact to any degree. Other Black people I see are always women. I go on their profile and they’ve got a bunch of fetish stories about their love for white men, literally go on any Black female writers page and read through her stories. It’s just constant Black female x white man romance stories. One I saw on the front page is where a Black woman is forced to marry a racist white mobster and she falls in love with him (What the fuck!?) this in consequence makes me feel even more isolated as these Black female writers are almost always mind slaves to the whites.

I am working on the script for the pilot episode of a YouTube Teen Drama series I am working on, I am looking for someone to assist me. Mainly with dialogue. Credit will be given and highly appreciated.

It will be low budget but high quality.

I am thinking of something like Euphoria, Skins, or Riverdale but toned down and set in lower class England, but I am open to other suggestions.

@BenjaminGeo You're definitely onto something here! What a great idea!

Skins takes me back to being a teenager, one of my favourite ever series. Loved Riverdale too, yet to watch Euphoria but I'd say they're all some solid references that with aspects of what I know from (Skins and Riverdale) will make for a very good teen drama!

I’m going to finish off Devil’s Daughter then I am going to make a decision on my future on Wattpad. I don’t know what I can honestly do here to build an audience. My first story performed alright but got almost no interaction. I see people upload low quality AI generated romance stories and gain tonnes of followers and interactions from it. It’s plain ridiculous, even if I did upload romance slop there is another reason I don’t get as many followers and interactions from my peers.

Like, as a male writer who also doesn't write romance. How do I gain an audience?

@BenjaminGeo Feels like such a knockdown arguement, but maybe the best thing to do is not to expect too much too soon. You've only been posting since like, one week, right? Honestly, those numbers are pretty solid for a start!

@Neonandnoise I have tried to engage with other people but it hasn’t resulted in reciprocity. Feels like a dead end reading others story’s and giving them feedback only for them to not do the same. It’s quite the frustrating process. I am thinking about turning my stories into audiobooks and uploading them to YouTube where I already have some sort of audience, but I really want to grow my audience on Wattpad

@BenjaminGeo As a newbie female writer who does, I'm asking myself the same thing. ;) I think posting on Reddit might work well, and engaging in other people's work can help build a community. You can also react to read for read/comment for comment appeals! I'm telling you this like I know ball, but I can actually relate to your thoughts and frustrations a lot. It's hard to get your story out there, even when it stands out and is very well written like yours. I for one hope you don't give up on Wattpad!
