"Hi Loki, here's some breakfast." Lily carefully inched the tray of food into the small hatch. Loki didn't even need to see the meal before his nose wrinkled automatically in disgust.

"What in Odin's beard is that?" He turned his nose at the food, not bothering to lift it out of the hatch.

"Just some porridge." Lily stated, shrugging her shoulders.

"You Midgardians eat this? I will not consume peasant food." Loki threw his hands up in the air and turned away from the steaming bowl.

Lily rubber her forehead tenderly, "It was the only thing they had, I need to go grocery shopping. Turns out enhanced people eat a lot."

"This is disgusting. Completely inedible." His bluntness at handling situations did amuse Lily - though she would never admit it to anyone.

"Well, then tell me what you would like and I will make it for you tomorrow."

"And why on Asgard would you do that?"

"It's pointless giving you something you don't like." It really didn't occur to Lily why the God was surprised that she would cook him up something different, but she chose to add "I've got to keep you alive after all. Avenger's orders."

Despite hearing it clearly, Loki chose to ignore the last statement Lily made. "You're a fascinating mortal."

"And you're a high maintenance God." Lily retorted, causing a flicker of a smirk arise on Loki's face. Though, it was gone before Lily could fully register it. "Please, just try it? I swear it tastes better than it looks."

"Is the mortal pleading with me?" Despite the remark, Loki did indeed taste a spoonful of the porridge. He let it sit on his tongue for a moment, inhaling the flavours bouncing off. "What's in this . . meal?"

"Oats, milk, a spoon of sugar and golden syrup." Lily listed off.

"I suppose it's not terrible." Loki eyed the bowl for any shimmer of sabotage, "I've had better."

Lily scrunched her eyebrows, "I'll take that as a win."

------------

It hadn't been long since Lily had sat down with Loki, when the doors slid open and quick, hefty footsteps walked through. She had half expected it to be Tony wanting her to be his guinea pig on a new suit design or Thor yelling that they had ran out of pop tarts - which they had after Lily refused to refill the stock from Thor's prank. But instead and unfortunately it was Grant Ward.

He sauntered in like he owned the building. "Hey there, Lily Quill."

Lily closed her stark industries laptop that she had been working on for the past half hour, "Agent ward," She greeted. Loki was laying down on the metal bed but had turned his head to watch the two of them.

"I believe we both got off on the wrong foot. So I would like to make amends. Especially seeing as I will be spending quite a bit of time in this... establishment. On S.H.I.E.L.D business of course." Grant asked, holding his hands behind his back as though it was second nature. "How about we call ourselves friends?"

Lily held in a scoff, "Friends is a little far fetched. We're colleagues Ward. How about we stay that way."

"Colleagues. Okay, we can start with that."  He nodded his head in agreement, "How are you finding working at the tower?" He seemed genuinely interested. Lily didn't know what to think of the Agent in front of her.

"It's going really well. I love working here." She had heard all the warnings about him - that he was dangerous and had the second best espionage scores after Natasha Romanoff. But being friendly colleagues did appeal more than hating each other.
