Lily entered the cell room the next day, the cut on her lip had scabbed over. Her face had no swelling from the frozen peas Steve had given her, though the lower side of her face was still a bright shade of blue and purple.

Loki was sat with his back against the glass of the far side of the cell. His hair was in knots, his eyes sunken in. His nails were bitten until they bled. His shirt was torn and his lips were dry and cracked. It broke Lily's heart.

As soon as Loki saw Lily, he quickly switched his appearance into his clean cut façade and Asgardian armour

As soon as Loki saw Lily, he quickly switched his appearance into his clean cut façade and Asgardian armour.

"It must be exhausting to keep up that illusion." Lily commented sympathetically. She couldn't help the worry flash in her eyes. It took everything in her body not to run over to him and help the broken God.

"You know nothing mortal." Loki scoffed, avoiding Lily's gaze. His voice was softer than one would expect, almost begging to be alone but not wanting to be left.

After a moments thought, Lily pulled the lever at the side of the cell. A glass door slid open smoothly and clicked into place. Lily hesitated before she entered the cell. Loki needs help. She told herself and took one step into the cell.

Once Lily was inside, the glass door slid shut on her. Surprise washed across Loki's face as she came closer. Confusion soon replaced the look of shock.

"You don't need to hide from me Loki." Lily said softly. A warm feeling filled Loki's chest as his name rolled smoothly off of her tongue.

"I'm not hiding from you." Loki scowled.

"Loki." Lily firmly said, leaving no room for argument.

He sighed in response but abided to Lily's demanding voice. In an instant and a flash of green light, Loki was sat back on the cell floor.

Lily knelt beside him and pulled out a hairbrush from her bag. Loki moved away instantly as Lily reached over to brush his hair. Lily sat patiently and waited for Loki to turn back around so he was sitting cross legged In front of her. Lily began to smooth out the knots and ruffled raven hair.

From her position, Lily couldn't see Loki's eyes closing from contentment. Lily didn't realize how long and silky Loki's hair was. She ran her fingers through it to make sure there were no knots left.

Lily then had another thought. Lifting her sleeve, she pulled off two spare hair ties. Lily moved to the side of Loki who gave her a questioning look.

Lily paid no attention and focused on the handful of hair she partitioned off. She neatly braided the hair and tied it off tightly. Shuffling to the other side of Loki, she grabbed the same amount and did an identical braid to match.

Lily sat back to admire her work. Loki tentatively ran his hands along the braids and whispered a "Thank you." It was sincere with no sarcasm or snide remarks.
