--(Nina's POV)--
Quiet footsteps were the only sound as Hazel and I silently padded down a long metalic-like hallway. There was no more light, so I couldn't see one thing. Not even Hazel. My closest bet was to stay extremely close to her footsteps.
Besides the fact that I didn't know anything, I was still curious. Breaking the tense silent right now would probably be the best thing right now, too.
I swallowed before I spoke.
"Why am I here? What is...'here'?"
I was close enough to hear her sigh. She mumbled something.
"What?"
"I said you really don't know anything! God... no one knows what 'here' is!" Her voice stuttered when she spoke.
"I don't know... okay?" I was going to nod, but then remembered she couldn't see me, like a dummy.
"Okay..." I replied.
"So," She said in a calmer voice.
"What's your spirit animal?"
Wait, what? Animal?
"Spirit animal?" She loudly facepalmed.
"For God's sake... YES!"
She must have a thing for making people seem dumb.
"We all have one... and are somehow able to shift into them, like a hybrid."
What!?
"Who are 'we'?! And what is this...this..nonsense!"
She stopped in place. Bad idea. I heard her feet twist as she turned my way. I backed up.
"That's the only reason why we're 'here'! Don't you know ANYTHING!?"
So much for Miss.Caring.
I coward back again as she took another step forward.
"N-no..."
More awkward silence, an enemy, by now.
--(Hazel's POV)--
I know she couldn't see me, but I softened my expression anyway. What could she know? She's only just got here today...
I back away and flush, thankfull that it's dark.
"Look..." I bit my lip, some tension between us fades.
"I'm sorry I yelled at you. It's just... I don't know why I'm here either. And I'm sick and tired of getting asked the same question almost every single day."
I can hear her shuffle in place.
"It's okay..."
Guh. Probably a unicorn or bluebird.
I smirk in self-pleasure.
"C'mon, let's go..."

--(Nina's POV)--
When the vast chamber of darkness finally ends, what I expected was not even close to what I actually saw.
1. White. That explained almost all of it. A large white tiled room with lights that hung from the ceilings like chandeliers. Multiple rows of white pinic tables lay all over the vast white, almost blending in. On the far left of the room, there was a food stand that had a metal gate, blocking entery within.
2. Large. This room was huge. At least a couple hundred feet back to front.
And last, 3. Tunnels. Ginormous tunnels circled all around the room. At closer inspection, all of them looked like the one Hazel and I just walked through, dark and empty.
"So much white..." My head starts to throb.
Hazel nods.
"That's how it's always been."
No. This can't be my new life.
This has to be some cruel trick! Or a dream... wake up, Nina!
I try to reply to her, but my voice is shaking so badly. It feels like my vocal cords were numb.
"H-ck..!" My breath catches!
Can't breathe, can't breathe, CAN'T BREATHE!
"N- ni n - a a a .. .!!"
All was black. The opposite of my new reality.
