Note : This book contains mentions of drugs, alcohol, abuse and self harm-themes that are included to reflect the reality of certain characters' journeys and not to glorify them.
This particular chapter also includes strong language, mention of pedophila, misogynistic views used intentionally to serve the plot and portray emotional intensity. With that said Always strive to handle such content with care and purpose.
To my younger readers: while the characters may sometimes speak or act in ways that are raw, immodest or reckless, Even Ivan and Asher would highly encourage you to always choose kindness, empathy, and respectful language in your own lives. You have the power to shape the world around you with your words-so let them be beautiful.
With all my love and admiration, Yours Viviana

42 Minutes to Shadow Pearl
It grates in my head.
The vacuumed pressure of the aircraft, the fizzling bubbles in champagne, the polished smile of the hostess, the soft rug under my soles-and the rancid man beside me who hasn't stopped speaking to me about sex and women for what feels like twenty whole minutes now.
A drunk Antonio was a wolf in heat. And the pen twirling between my fingers atop the document I was attempting to read-I wanted to drive it straight into his eye socket. I am never, and would never be, a violent man. But with Antonio in my vicinity, I'm afraid anything is possible.
He makes me want to bleed him dry just to hear silence.
"Can you get him to shut up?"
Across from me, sprawled and slumped in his jet leather chair, was Caleb Hughes. The blazer of his custom beige suit was tossed carelessly on an empty seat beside him. He rubbed his temple with the weary lean of a man oscillating between sleep and murder. His sour blue eyes twitched at the sight of De Rossi.
Antonio started again. A spit-laced rant about how women are mere toys to be used and improvised. Nothing else.
Caleb's eyes rolled back along with his head into the headrest. His fingers entwined together as he released a long, tortured breath.
