Chapter Nineteen

The boys weren't happy about your decision but you weren't budging on them hurting your sister any more than they already had. So after a few minutes of back and forth you left the dining table with a huff and went to go sit on the sofa and sulk.

Sulking was pretty hard to do when a big fluffy tiger walked over to you and nuzzled her head into you lovingly. You smiled and ran your hands through her fur, Sussie jumping from the tigers head to your head; making herself comfy in your hair again.

You kept stroking through Derpy's soft fur with one hand, while looking through your phone with the other. You glanced at messages from the girls, making sure to text them back telling them that you weren't injured and you were safe but you had to leave the hospital. You then scrolled through your contacts stopping when you saw Celine's name.

Surely in all the years of hunters fighting demons someone else would have been afflicted by a poison like this? Maybe you could ask your guardian about it? Maybe she would be able to shed some light on what this poison was? There was only one way to find out.

You hesitantly clicked on the name, your foot nervously tapping against the floor as you rose the phone to your ear. Each ring made you more and more nervous, your mind already urging you to just hang up.

"Hello?" Celine answered. Well it was definitely too late to hang up now.

"Hello Celine I wanted to ask you about something." You started.

"Are you okay? Zoey and Mira said you and Rumi were injured." She replied worry lacing her voice.

"I-I'm okay at the moment but I wanted to ask you about one of my injuries."

"I'm listening."

"So a few days ago I was stabbed by a demon, but he had some kind of liquid on his claws when he did so. The wound is all black and purple and the doctors have no idea what's wrong with it. I wanted to know if you've ever seen or heard of anything like this." You explained.

There was an uncomfortable pause from the other side of the line.

"You've found your demon soulmates haven't you?" She replied in a serious tone.

"What?"

"I know the exact situation you're in, Rumi's mother Ryu was injured with poison when she was with Rumi's father. Gwi Ma was trying to blackmail him to break the Honmoon and kill her fellow hunters saying that if he did, Gwi Ma would give him the antidote. The reason she passed away was because he wouldn't do that. But now another chance for him to blackmail demons into helping him escape the underworld has come around."

You listened to Celine's story shocked that she actually knew exactly what was happening and that this had happened before.

"I can look through some information and try to see what the antidote is to see if there is any chance we can make our own but I highly doubt it as Ryu wasn't able to save herself."

"Thank you." You replied, thankful for anything she could find to help.

"I want you to promise me one thing though." Celine told you, her voice stone cold. "Whatever you do don't let them kill the girls and break the Honmoon. I love you but thousands of people will die if you let your soul mates save you."

"I promise I won't let that happen." You replied, after taking a deep breathe.

"I'll text you with anything I find (y/n)." With that one sentence Celine hung up on you.

You ran a hand through your hair as Jinu tentatively approached you and sat next to you on the sofa.

"Who was that?" He asked softly.

"It was Celine, one of the last generation's hunters." You replied.

"Did she have anything that could help us?"

"She knows what's happening." Jinu seemed surprised at your statement. "This has happened before when a demon fell in love with a hunter. Gwi Ma made the exact same deal with that demon, but the demon refused so the hunter died due to the poison."

"So all we learnt is that Gwi Ma isn't lying about the poison." Jinu concluded looking over at you with sad eyes. He let out a sigh, his mind still trying to find an answer that made everyone happy though he knew deep down that there was no answer he desired.

"Do you want a hot drink?" The dark haired boy asked after a moment of silence.

"Yeah, can I have a (tea/coffee/hotchoc)?" You answered closing your eyes and continuing to run your hand through the softest fur in the world.

"Sure." Jinu got up from his seat next to you, gently stroking Derpy on his way to the kitchen.

You tried to clear your head for a bit, just enjoying the feeling of the soft fur against your gentle hand. The purrs of the oversized cat washing a wave of calmness over your body. You felt Sussie snuggle further into your hair, a chirp of satisfaction coming from her small feathery form. You listened to the purrs as they mixed with the sound of the kettle boiling water in the kitchen.

"You look comfy." A voice broke through your calmness the sofa next to you shifting as someone sat down.

"I am." You replied without opening your eyes.

There was a moment of silence before you felt the person shift next to you, a sudden light weight appearing on your lap. You opened your eyes to see Baby laying his head on your lap, stretching the rest of his body across the sofa so no one else would be able to sit down. His blue eyes were still locked on his phone, he seemed unable to put the damn thing down.

"What?" He asked as he noticed you staring.

"Are you ever not on your phone?" You asked.

"I am when I'm on my PC or when I'm paying attention to you." He answered putting his phone down to give his full attention to you. "It's hard to not be online when I've gotta be in charge of my own accounts and Jinu's as he still can't adapt to using technology."

"Those phone things are too hard to use!" Jinu told you both defensively as he placed two mugs on the coffee table. "Budge up."

Baby sighed but did as he was told, moving his legs to rest on the back of the sofa so Jinu had room so sit down too.

"I can't believe I'm older than you and you can't even learn all these newer devices." Baby taunted.

"Well I can't believe you're older than me and still act like a grumpy teenager." Jinu snapped back.

"I do not!" Baby whined, acting exactly like a child.

You rolled your eyes and made a shushing noise, running your free hand through his mint hair. The boy seemed confused for a few seconds as you ran your hand through his hair a few more times, stroking him just like you were stroking the tiger next to you. Baby then shrugged his shoulders slightly and closed his eyes allowing you to continue stroking him. You were just glad you had been able to make him stop arguing with everyone so you could have some peace and quiet.

I usually try to upload a chapter a day unless something in life gets in the way so that's how I'll be uploading chapters from now on
