Aria remained standing by the fence long after the golden eyes disappeared.
The forest had returned to its usual quiet state, the tall trees swaying gently under the cool night breeze. Nothing moved between the shadows anymore.
Yet her heart was still beating fast.
She knew what she saw.
Those eyes had not belonged to a normal wolf.
Even the strongest wolves in the Silver Moon Pack did not carry that kind of presence. The moment their gazes met, a strange pressure had filled the air, making her chest feel tight.
Aria slowly stepped back from the fence.
“Maybe it was just a rogue,” she whispered to herself.
But the words didn’t convince her.
Rogues were wild and violent. If one had been near the pack territory, the patrol warriors would have already sounded an alarm.
The wolf in the forest hadn’t acted like a rogue.
It had simply watched her.
Carefully.
Almost curiously.
Aria shook her head and forced herself to leave the area. Standing outside alone this late would only cause problems if someone noticed her.
The pack house was still lively when she returned.
Music drifted through the open windows, and laughter echoed across the clearing. Many wolves had gathered around the long wooden tables where food had been placed.
The excitement about tomorrow’s Moon Ceremony had only grown stronger as the night continued.
Aria quietly slipped through the side entrance of the pack house and headed toward the kitchen.
Inside, the warmth from the large cooking fire filled the room.
Several trays of food still needed to be prepared for the next day. Vegetables had to be cut, meat had to be seasoned, and large pots needed to be cleaned.
Aria tied a cloth around her waist and immediately began working.
Chopping.
Washing.
Organizing.
The familiar routine slowly helped calm her racing thoughts.
But every now and then, her mind drifted back to the forest.
Those golden eyes.
The strange feeling in her chest.
And the quiet voice she had heard yesterday morning.
Interesting…
Aria paused for a moment while cutting vegetables.
The voice had been deep.
Powerful.
Not threatening, but commanding in a way she couldn’t explain.
It almost felt like whoever had spoken was used to being obeyed.
She shook her head again.
“You’re imagining things,” she muttered softly.
A loud voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts.
“There you are!”
Aria looked up.
One of the younger pack boys stood at the kitchen doorway, breathing slightly fast.
“The Alpha wants more drinks brought to the training ground,” he said. “The warriors are still outside.”
Aria wiped her hands quickly.
“I’ll bring them.”
The boy nodded before running off again.
Aria filled a large tray with cups and a pitcher before carefully carrying it out of the kitchen.
The night air felt cooler now.
Most of the pack members had moved closer to the training ground where several warriors were gathered.
Aria approached quietly, keeping her eyes lowered as usual.
As she placed the tray down on a wooden table nearby, a familiar voice caught her attention.
“Again.”
The voice was calm but firm.
Aria glanced up slightly.
Kael stood in the center of the training ground.
Two warriors faced him, both breathing heavily as if they had already been sparring for a while.
Kael, however, looked completely calm.
“Attack together this time,” he instructed.
The warriors nodded and lunged forward.
What happened next was so fast that Aria almost missed it.
Kael moved like a shadow.
One moment he was standing still, the next he had already sidestepped the first warrior’s strike. His arm shot forward, grabbing the man’s wrist and twisting it effortlessly.
At the same time, he kicked the second warrior’s leg out from under him.
Within seconds, both men were on the ground.
The surrounding wolves murmured in admiration.
“Incredible…”
“He’s even stronger than before.”
Kael stepped back, offering his hand to help one of them up.
“Your balance is still weak,” he said calmly.
Aria quickly lowered her gaze again before he could notice her watching.
She picked up the empty cups and turned to leave.
But just as she stepped away—
A sudden wave of pressure swept across the training ground.
It was subtle, but powerful enough that several wolves immediately stiffened.
Even Kael’s head turned sharply toward the forest.
Aria felt it too.
The same strange presence from earlier.
Her heart dropped.
The forest beyond the pack territory had grown unnaturally quiet again.
Kael narrowed his eyes slightly, staring into the darkness between the trees.
For a moment, it almost looked like he was trying to sense something.
But whatever it was…
It disappeared just as quickly as it had come.
Kael looked away, his expression thoughtful.
“Strange,” one of the warriors muttered.
But no one could explain why the air had suddenly felt so heavy.
Aria hurried away before anyone could stop her.
Yet as she walked back toward the pack house, she couldn't shake the feeling growing inside her chest.
Somewhere in the forest, something powerful was watching the Silver Moon Pack.
And somehow…
It was connected to her.
