Sixth period is definitely going to be my favorite class this year. I have choir with Lucas and Rylee, and our teacher is a gem. Seriously though, her name is Gemma Allegria. A name as unique as her look - she rocked long, hot pink hair, obviously dyed, along with many piercings and a tattoo peeking out from the hem of her shirt that seemed to go up the back of her neck.
She was singing Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" as student's filed into class, and I almost cried. Her voice was soulful and rich. I have no clue why she'd want to be a high school choir teacher; she could easily become famous with her voice.
The slight downside to the class was that Payton was in it as well. When I saw her walk in I tried to smile, but once again, she ignored my existence. I tried not to worry about it too much, especially since she was placed in a different voice section. She sat next to Rylee in the front row, who was also an alto. We didn't do much in class, just went over syllabus and start on some sight reading.
I was able to get a ride home from Lucas after school. When I walked in the door I fell to my knees, calling for my dog. Luffy ran towards me in a full on sprint, jumping into my arms, and knocking me on my butt. I laughed, letting him lick all over my face.
"Homework time" I muttered to him "I really wish you could do math Luf" he barked at me in response. He followed me into the kitchen for a snack, then into my room.
-5:00pm-
I finally finished my homework after a few hours. My phone beeped:
Text Message from: Melissa
Melissa: I'll be late at work tonight. There is leftover food in the fridge, or you can go out. I'll pay you back for any food you buy. Love you.
I decided i'd try to get to know my new hometown better. I threw on a beanie and slipped on my adidas sneakers as I yelped restaurants. I settled on a diner with 5 star reviews. It was a fifteen minute walk from where I was. I kissed Luffy and my cats goodbye, then popped in my earbuds.
I hummed along to 'It's Time' by the Imagine Dragons, disgesting my first day of school. My classes would be difficult, but I was determined to get all A's. The people there were overall friendly, especially Lucas and Rylee. Daphne was fine, but maybe a bit too energetic for me. I was a bit worried for cheer tryouts, because I wasn't actually sure I WANTED to do it.
I finally found Delia's diner. It was a cute little place that reminded me of Pop's from the show Riverdale. I chose a booth in the back and started to search through the menu.
Hmmmm... what do I want? A burger? A hot dog? Ooooo, chili fries...
"Ava?"
I looked up I saw a pretty red head with dark brown eyes in what looked to be a 50's waitress getup:
