Aleksandra is a girl who has been picked on for being different. Well, not really 'picked on', more like 'tortured and studied', but same thing, right? Anyway, things change when on her sixteenth birthday, she learns that her and her twin brother can read each other's mind.

It has been more than a year since Alina Oretsev (formerly known as Alina Starkov) has tried to shake off the events that destroyed the Shadow Fold and that stripped her of her Sun Summoner's powers. The constant pressure from her husband awakens the unknown feelings, evoking shadows that the former Sun Summoner had been so disgusted with not that long ago. But he's dead, so that's impossible... isn't it? However, there is something that Alina hasn't known yet. After killing Aleksander Morozova by her own hands she unnecessarily kept a knife which had taken his life. It was a huge mistake. An alternate ending to Ruin and Rising. Alina's power, instead of creating new Sun Summoners, goes into the Darkling and burns out his power. Both of them are left powerless, and Mal stays dead. Alina takes the Darkling to Novyi Zem. This might just be a couple of chapters, but I might add to it later. This isn't going to be romantic Darklina, just plantonic.
