These apparently unconnected characters will end being linked up by the consequences of an event that will ultimately trigger the unveiling of Homeworld's most well hidden secrets. This story is a Steven Universe fan fiction that wants to create an alternative point of view on the original show without changing the canon events. For that, I use big amounts of speculation to fill the gaps the show left when it ended. The action is presented in short chapters and is told almost entirely told from my original characters perspective, the one of gems, and some other alien races, curious about their existance, their origins, and their possibilities beyond serving their superiors. I assume you've seen the cartoon before reading this fanfiction. Beware of the spoilers if you haven't seen all Steven Universe, the Movie, and Future.

reality change is a Steven universe au of mine set in an alt world from ours where magic exists and regular people can become gems by using ancient and forgotten methods called gem link/binding. in this au, gem links where used long ago by people who sought immortality. Gem links worked but it was flawed as on rare occasions the person would experiance personality changes, mixed memories and sometimes even forget who they where entirely, and all the original people who turned into gems have dissappeared or where shattered in the past. the process of gem link isnt that hard either. the person will already have a gem of the same cut, size and color as the gem they want to become. magic is then used on the gem to begin the process and the gem is embedded into the persons body. the persons dna is taken in by the gem and encoded into it before the gem removes itself from the body. the person is then reborn as the same gem they chose to be, now living in immortality with the same powers. However, there is no known way of returning someone to their past self after they have became a gem so they must choose their gem wisely. Plot the main story follows a group of friends who are known as mec, Rae Anne, piper, Joey, stormy, skylar and raine. The main group live their lives spending time together and enjoying steven universe, drawing fanart, making cosplay and roleplaying as their favorite characters. Over time, the whole group eventually become their favorite gems and go out on their own adventures. a few people however, still have some doubts about the transformation as it is still flawed. This is seen when they turn the school bully into an unlikely fun loving gem that the main character has to take care of. Trouble only arises when they find out that they weren't the only ones to transform and a bigger threat arises from the depths of space.
