Maxwell is moderately smart; he either fails or aces tests, but he still puts a smile on his face. He's included in a few clubs: Science Club, Math Club, and Chess Club. Chess Club, that's where the sunshine Maxwell found himself drawn to the nerdy chess lover, Zachary River who is low-key athletic.
