Tatum's life is like a five layer burrito. The outside is like a front she puts up to protect herself and her heart. The inside, a shattered girl that just needs to be held, loved, and to be needed. Being a Thorton, she didn't get that much love, her mom's a doctor and her twin brother is a pain in the ass.

Seventeen year old, Lucas is not your average teenager. He's rude, snobby, picks on others and will try to scare anyone who tries to get close to him. The truth is that nobody, except for the school office, knows that when he was younger he saw his parents die in front of him. One day a girl, Mikayla comes to her new school South High high school where Lucas happens to go. She meets Lucas and refuses to give up on him until she breaks his cold shell and brings out the good side in him that no one has ever seen before.

A poem about a shell

When you think you are safe, that's when you are wrong. Leala was a struggling youth doing her best to help her parents. They were simple people who lived by the sea. One could say that they are less fortunate but is a picture of a happy family. A fisherman's life was what Rowan always had to support his wife and daughter. He risked his life to sail on all weathers, despite all the trouble he was happy to be home at their tiny hut. Aina was snubbed and neglected after she chose to marry a humble fisherman. But when she gave birth to Leala, she had never been any happier. Everything changed one night when the night crawlers came. This is a work of fiction. The names of characters and similarities of events are pure coincidence. The idea came to me in a dream. I couldn't shake the memory away, so I wrote it down.
