Simplistic Stories

Declan Brown has always been a grumpy, self-contained introvert. Stuck in a dysfunctional family where his limits are often tested, he finds himself avoiding people, already experiencing for the majority of his life how terrible they and their relationships could be. When Clare Jones, the soft, chirpy soul with a knack for kindness, makes an entry into his town, Declan's fears are challenged. Every time she elicits a smile out of him, he finds himself in a panic, lost more than ever about the different emotions she makes him feel. With time, the two of them attempt to break the chains, unleashing themselves into a world where the last day of October leaves them with such little time and so much to lose.

This is my first-ever intentional oneshot. Based on the sixth Harry Potter film, Half Blood Prince. this is Draco Malfoy's perspective on what happened to the canary after he transported her in the Vanishing Cabinet. Note: I tried my best to make this short and sweet, without my usual wordiness and over-description. Just keep that in mind if you're looking for long paragraphs with lots of adjectives and imagery. There's some, but not too much. Read if you want to - and thanks!

Mysteriously reborn, an innocent creature emerges into a new world, without purpose or understanding. Possessing just a child's mind, she waddles forth to achieve what once was in this mysterious realm of everlasting dreams.

This is a new type of genre that I like to call "simplistic fiction" (I'll have to come up with a new name later). It's always been around, but I don't think it's ever been given a name. Basically, it's a story about an extremely small and seemingly insignificant occurrence that can have a huge story behind it. This story examines how little we know about people we're right next to. Y'all enjoy.
