By Wednesday, things were starting to get real. The PNMs had been putting on their best faces, showing off their superficial charm at mixers and house tours, but tonight was different.

This was when we separated the pretenders from the contenders.

Tonight, they had to prove that they weren't just pretty faces—they had to show they had heart.

Philanthropy wasn't just some requirement for us at Alpha Theta Pi.

It was part of our DNA.

We weren't just here to throw lavish parties and run the social scene; we were here to make a difference. And we expected the same from anyone who wanted to join our ranks.

The dinner was set up in the grand hall, with tables draped in gold linens, crystal chandeliers sparkling above, and elegant floral arrangements everywhere you looked.

The theme was simple yet meaningful—"Giving Back." Everything from the centerpieces to the speeches focused on charity, service, and making a real impact on the community.

I made sure the girls knew exactly how to dress for the occasion—classy, but not too flashy. We had to look approachable, but still untouchable.

So, we all wore deep navy satin dresses, our college's signature color, paired with gold accessories to match the event's aesthetic.

As soon as the PNMs started filing in, I could feel the tension in the air.

Tonight was about more than just impressing us with charm or looks—it was about their ability to stand up for something bigger than themselves.

The event kicked off with a speech from Evie, who gave a heartfelt talk about the causes Alpha Theta Pi supported, everything from local food banks to international education programs.

The girls were supposed to listen, nod along, and give their best reactions. But I wasn't looking for fake smiles tonight. I was looking for passion.

That's when Dewina made her move.

As we mingled with the PNMs, she slid right into a conversation I was having with a girl from the top of my list, Sophie.

Sophie was exactly the kind of girl I wanted in the house—smart, involved, and with a heart for service. She was a fierce advocate against human trafficking, especially in Eastern Europe, and had worked closely with organizations combatting the crisis in Romania and Hungary. She also helped organize local drives for homeless shelters.

But Dewina, of course, wasn't one to just watch from the sidelines. She inserted herself into the conversation with that perfect fake smile of hers and casually dropped, "You know, Sophie, I just don't get how people can spend so much time on charity work when there's no real payoff. Like, how does it actually help you in the real world?"
