malakai drove back slowly, cautious of the dark road and sofia's distracting (bad) singing beside him. when the car finally arrived to sofia's house, she had tired herself out and was leant against the passenger seat window half asleep. she stretched out in front of her, unclipped her seatbelt and then looked over at malakai. in this situation, when it was chook dropping her off, she would reach over a pull him into a deep kiss. but that felt almost... too serious for this situation. they were keeping things fun, casual.
instead, she opted for a small smile. "i'll see you tomorrow?"
"yeah, see you tomorrow." malakai replied, offering that same small smile back.
she got out the car, jogged quickly up the stairs to her front door, and slipped in without looking back at the car once. that felt too serious as well. inside, her parents were watching a movie quietly in the dark. she could see the glow of the tv from the hallway. she made her way to her bedroom quickly, not wanting to leave room for questioning. and to her luck, her mother was passed out on her dads lap, who gave her a quick nod as sofia got to her room.
sofia's room was the one part of the house she and the boys didn't clean that morning. she was faced with clothes and cups thrown all over the floor, her makeup desk covered in spilt products, her bed not made from the morning where she'd woken up with ant.
she wasn't ready to face any of it.
tomorrow was her first day back at school since everything happened, and although it would've probably felt good to wake up to a clean room, the version of her that had just had sex in a car with her best friend just wanted to get into bed and sleep until the morning.
