Hardin's POV

I just finished my last shift before my holiday, I bought some flowers for my beautiful wife and I go to take her home after these days spent in hospital. She's very good at being a mother and it seems like she was made for motherhood. I enter in her room and she's breastfeeding Auden. This activity was a little bit complicated in his first day, we have a little bit to work with him, but now everything is perfect. She's already dressed and she has everything packed.

"Hello mommy."

"Hi." She smiles and she looks at our baby boy. "Are you done?"

"Yes."

"Sorry for being late, but I had to check a patient before I left."

"No need to say sorry. This big boy was hungry and I fed him, but now he just stays here."

"He likes mommy's tits." I laugh.

"He is exactly like you." He removes Auden from her breast and she burps him. As I said, she's doing a really good job being a mother.

"You are doing a really great job, baby. You are born to be a mother."

"Yeah?" She giggles.

"Yes. I'm gonna take you luggage in the car, then I am coming after you two. Oh! Dr. Reynolds gave you the discharge papers?"

"She will be here any minute."

"Good, I will be back soon."

I kiss her and I take her bag. I take it to the car and then I go back to my family, where I find Dr. Reynolds.

Dr. Reynolds: "As the nurse said, the baby is doing very well, he's a healthy and strong baby and it's time to go home." She gives me Tessa's and Auden's discharges papers.

Hardin: "Thank you, Jessica."

Dr. Reynolds: "I'm glad I helped. Tessa, I suggest you to come for a check-up in six weeks. And I also suggest you to not have sexual activities. You have to heal, and after your six weeks postpartum check-up, you will can do this again. And then we will be able to chose a contraceptive method."

Tessa: "I understand."

Dr. Reynolds: "And in four weeks, you should take him for one moth check-up and his second vaccine."

Hardin: "I got this, Jessica. Thank you so much."

Dr. Reynolds: "You are welcome. Good luck!" She smiles and she leaves.

"Good luck? For what?"

"I don't have any idea. Let's go home."

I take Auden from his mother's arms and I put him in the car seat, fixing the belts, so he can be comfortable. I take the car seat in one hand and with the other I take Tessa's hand and we leave the hospital room. We arrive at my car and I fix Auden's car seat on the support.

"It's ok if I stay in the back with him?"

"Why are you asking? You are his mother and he needs you, ok?"

"Yes."

She kisses me and I help her to get in the car, then I get in too and I drive back home. After 35 minutes, I park the car in the front of the building. I help Tessa to get out and the I take Auden. I will come later to take Tessa's bag. We go upstairs and I unlock the door.

"Welcome home, baby." She says and she takes Auden in her arms. "This is the place where we will live, baby. I'm gonna put him in his bed."

"Take off his clothes, I bet his is warm with them."

"I will." She smiles and she walks in our bedroom.

While Tessa is with the baby, I order something to eat. I don't want to cook and I don't want to let her to cook. In the next weeks, my mother will cook for us, so Tessa has just to stay with Auden. When I'm done with the order, I gently enter in our bedroom to change in something comfy. She's laying on our bed, looking at Auden's crib.

"He is so little and cute."

"I know." I get dressed and I go to lay behind her.

"He is your copy, babe."

"We will see it when he will be bigger. I ordered food."

"Good. He will be asleep for the next two hours, so we can eat in peace."

"Yes." I kiss her forehead. "Get dressed in something comfy and let's go back to the living room, so he can sleep in peace."

"Can you turn on the baby monitor?"

"Sure."

I turn on the baby monitor and I fix it so we can have a good look at Auden, then Tessa is ready and we leave the baby alone.

"How are you feeling, love?"

"I'm good." She smiles at me. "A little bit tired, but I have to get used with it, right?"

"I will help you, ok? I took my family leave for three months."

"Yes. We are doing this together."

"Yes." I kiss her and I hug her. She recovered very well after birth, she has almost the same body as before the pregnancy. "Do you have any idea when my pump will arrive? I think we will need it soon. The nurse told me to pump if I feel heavy."

"I think tomorrow it should be here."

"Good."

A few minutes later, our food is here and we start to eat. Lucky us because the baby is still sleeping and while we eat, he doesn't interrupt us.

Tessa's POV

After a delicious lunch, I ask Hardin if I can wash the dishes.

"No."

"Why not?"

"Because you are still tired after birth, love. Go and stay with Auden while I clean these. I need you to sleep as much as you can, ok?"

"Ok, fine." I smile and he leans on to kiss me.

"Go to the baby, I will be there soon."

"Good."

I go back in our room and I find the baby awake. Oh, what a good boy.

"Hi baby." I smile and I sit next to him. "You are a good boy, right?" he just looks at me. He is so quiet and I can't believe he was inside me a few days ago. He is not crying too much, he cries just when his diaper is full or when he is hungry. In these three days since I'm his mother, I learnt a lot about him and I know what he wants. "Are you hungry, baby?" One of the nurses, taught me how to check if he is hungry, putting a bent pinkie in his mouth. If he sucks, he is hungry. And my boy is hungry. I take off my t-shirt, I put a pillow on my legs and I unclip on side of my bra, then I take Auden in my arms and I latch on. A few minutes later, Hardin comes in the bedroom.

"Someone was hungry? I didn't hear him crying."

"He was a good boy and he didn't want to cry." I gently rub Auden's back.

"I'm going to take a shower. You will be fine?"

"Of course! I'm taking care of a baby, not a monster." I giggle.

"I know, but if something is wrong, just call me, ok?"

"Yes."

"Love you both!" He gently kisses me and then he disappears in the bathroom.

When Hardin comes out from the bathroom, Auden is done eating, so I give him to Hardin to burp him.

"I heard that the first night is not easy."

"I know. But we can do this together."

"And it will take us a while until Auden will have a routine."

"Yes."

"But no matter what, I'm happy." I smile.

"Me too." He puts Auden in his bed and he comes to kiss me. "I love you, Tess."

"I love you."
