I wish I am a flower.
Beautiful, fragrant and can go out under the sun because the sun is its source of life (well it doesn't need a can in a sentence to describe since the flower naturally needs to be outdoors). It sounds bitter and selfish, yes. But, you can't blame me for thinking. As a seventeen year old girl who hasn't ever got out of the house, hasn't ever got out for a dose of vitamin sunshine or ever got to enjoy summer. Of course I have the right to wish to be born a flower rather than a human being whose purpose in life is to just stay in the house looking out windows, getting so envious of my neighbors-who kinda doesn't even know that I exist-ever so often.
I have a disease wherein I'm not allowed to go out for a dose of sunshine because it will cause skin rash, brain damage or worse case scenario, death. It's like an allergy, but worse. It is called Xeroderma Pigmentosum (if you have Dyslexia, just call it XP, my guy).
I've been holding a flower while watching outside of my window. What I'm holding is a white rose, I hold it near to my nose so I can smell its fragrance.
My dad loves to plant flowers. In the backyard and in the front of our house is full of flowers, mostly they are white roses. It's a rare hobby for a business man, well at least what I think it is rare. The reason why dad loves to plant them is because of my grandma. She's blind and one of the things that can make her happy is the smell of flowers. She's passed away right before I was born and my dad who is basically a mama's boy, wanted to plant flowers in memory of her.
A couple of minutes later, I put the flower just near the window. I rolled to lay on my bed with my back and my sight is on the ceiling. I took a deep breath and right after I exhaled, my phone rang into a particular ringtone where I know that my bestfriend, Tatum Scott is calling. I quickly grabbed my phone and answered the call, "Hey".
"Hey Clipsie, I'm coming over to your house. I have some gossips for you to listen," she said and giggled. This girl always has gossips to fish out and whenever she comes over, she will tell me all about it. Tatum loves socializing, like she's the type of person that thinks all people in the world are her friends. She always sees the good in people. I met her through online, since social media is the only place I could really talk to people or socialize. Coincidentally, she also lives at the same town as me. So to make the story short, we eventually became bestfriends.
"Is it about Jimmy and Rose's cheesy love story?" I asked with a smile.
All the gossips she shared made me think that I personally know people when actually I am just a lonely girl and just known those people because of Tatum. But it's okay, Tatum made me feel a normal girl who goes to school, had a squad of friends, had countless of suitors (oh dahling, how desperate).
"Hmm, the gossip that I'm excited to talk about? nahh. But, I have gossips about them too, thanks for reminding me Clipsie."
I shifted my body to the right, so now I am facing my wall of pictures. Pictures of me and my parents and also pictures of me and Tatum.
"Come over at 3? And bring-" I said but then Tatum interrupted with the continuation of what I'm supposed to say, "-choco butternut munchkins from Dunkin Donuts. Alright, I got you girly," she made a kiss sound and before the line went off, she said, "See you later!"
It is still 2:15 in the afternoon so I still got plenty of home alone time before Tatum comes. I sighed and I think about mom and dad. They are out of the country to attend an important business meeting. Gosh, I miss them. I wonder what it would be like to go out and see the world. If only I don't have this freaking disease, I could have fly out of the country with them and not stuck in this four walls.
